Stephy Bants is calling on all celebrities in Cameroon to not be afraid to lend their voices to the ongoing peaceful fight for freedom in Cameroon.
The popular actress took to her Facebook page, January 19 encouraging her Anglophone colleagues to not only use their social media platforms or statuses for entertainment alone but to sensitize their fans and communities on how to call for change in the country.
“I will advise ALL Anglophones especially “Celebrities”/”Public figures” to use their platforms to sensitize and give their voices to this peaceful fight for freedom to eradicate this corrupt regime. Let your platforms not only be used to ask people to like/share/promote you,” Stephy wrote on her page.
The mother and wife urged celebrities not to be afraid to fight for a good course – a course she says will change the lives of the future generation.
“What are you guys afraid of? Where is your braveness? Where is your sense of dignity? The time for you to join is now!!! Not when All is done and you update your status ‘Long live SC,'” she wrote.
Still on the celebrity call for participation, Bants says celebrity statues could only have value if its used to help the same fans who show the stars support.
“These [celebrity] titles you so badly want to carry are not only for the show. Note that you are also the voice of the people and you are also Warriors!!! WE SEE YOU ALL!!!” she added.
Stephy Bants joins the long list of other Cameroonian celebrities who have used social media to air their opinions about the ongoing social unrest in the English-speaking part of Cameroon since December 2016… which has led to students in this part of the country not being able to resume for the second term of the academic year.
