Former winner of Mount Cameroon Race blames 2017 loss on his shoes
Godlove Ngabsibuin should have won the Mount Cameroon Race of Hope in 2017 but his shoes failed him!
The last year winner of the race revealed in an interview that his dream of winning the race again this year crashed when his shoes shattered as he descended the 4400m high mountain.
“My shoes let me down. My shoes spoilt just as I was finishing the mountain,” Godlove explained to CRTV reporters in Buea.
“I think speed caused it. The speed was too much so my shoes got bad. It was difficult for me to stop and fix it so I had to finish the race running on one barefoot and that’s hard to do,” he said.
However, the 2016 winner who was over taken by the current winner, Fai Elvis at the level of Clerk’s Quarters, says him becoming second this year hasn’t stopped him from winning next year.
“I’m coming back next year,” he says. “I want to win it four times before I retire,” he adds.
Best of luck bro!
