Mount Cameroon Race of Hope 2017 male winner reveals his scariest moment
Fai Elvis may have won this year’s Mount Cameroon Race of Hope in Buea on February 25 and maybe 10 million francs richer but he says he had a strange experience on the mountain this year that could have cost him his trophy and his life.
In an interview with the Cameroon Radio and Television, the first time winner of the famous sports race revealed to that since he began running for the trophy in the early 2000, he has never ever felt scared on the mountain like he did this year.
“I had difficulties at the mountain this time around,” Fai Elvis revealed to the national media station. “Since I started running in 2006, I have never faced that level of hardship.”
“The wind at the summit was strange. The wind almost carried me away at the level of the summit. I train at Kumbo but have never felt such a strong wind in my entire life,” Fai went on to add.
Fai over took last year’s winner, Godlove Ngabsibuin, at Clerks Quarters to become the winner of this year’s challenge and claims the reason he won was because,
“Godlove hasn’t trained with speed. That’s how I over took him at Clerk’s Quarters.”
Well, looks like Fai’s own speed got him 10 million Francs!
