Nchifor Valery’s “33” movie gets thumbs up at IYA Noire
Nchifor Valery is a happy man after receiving impressive instant reviews for his phenomenal short film “33” during a private screening at ‘IYA Noire’ in Buea on March 26.
The actor and producer who showed up at the movie screening event in a casual look – rocking black jeans and an Armani Gorgio T-shirt covered with a grey colored jacket – seemed relaxed as he received questions and appraisals from the audience and movie critics.
“It’s always great to be told what you do and didn’t do in your film,” Nchifor tells DCODED. “IYA Noire is giving me an opportunity to meet my critics and fans face to face and ‘33’ needs those comments. This is the only way I can know if my team and I did a great or bad job,” he added.
“33” is a well-thought out produced and directed short film which brings out the discussion of the power of the human mind and illustrates the ability to contain and manage self struggles.
The movie further highlights how fast it is for people between the ages 30 to 65 could easily suffer or are currently suffering from psychiatric problems, mental or bi-polar diseases within our communities due to continuous stress, hardship and their inability to balance life’s hitches.
“It was a film I made to challenge myself as an actor and it’s the first and only film I have ever produced. But I find it mind-blowing when viewers watch and can relate to various issues from the film which I had no idea ever existed in it. Many people have even brought out angles from the film we didn’t even know existed in the film when we shot it back in 2015,” Nchifor explains.
The actor was encouraged to produce more short or feature movies with good quality that could be internationally acclaimed. However, fans also challenged Valery to make “33” available for movie lovers across Cameroon to have the opportunity to watch as well.
