Agbor Gilbert urges film makers to send movies to TIFF 2018
Popular Cameroonian film producer, Agbor Gilbert Ebot is urging his colleagues to forward their movies into the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF).
Agbor Gilbert, who is currently in Canada for TIFF 2017 says there are so many benefits getting Cameroonian movies into international film festivals including the fact that it opens doors for recognition, prize monies and meeting, interacting and networking with other film makers abroad.
“I have noticed that Cameroon has never been officially represented at the TIFF… so I said why don’t we try and get our films at the festival? We did so at Cannes in 2014 and Oscars in 2016,” Gilbert explains to us.
“Just as the Nigerians have been doing, we are entitled for submission next year, 2018 and we also have the opportunity to have a stand at the festival grounds here in Canada,” he adds.
Gilbert is best known as the founder of the Cameroon International Film Festival (CAMIFF) and as its objective, he wants better production of local films and subsequently proper distribution of these local movies in major markets across Africa and the world.
“There are so many opportunities at TIFF for us Cameroonian film makers to make proper use of,” he reveals.
Gilbert has been spotted making acquaintances with Empire stars, Taraji P. Henson, Terrence Howard, Jussie Smollet and a host of others.
