5 Fashion Trends rocked by African Celebrities
It’s no surprise that our day-to-day fashion trends are influenced by celebrities. We always find ourselves looking up to them for fashion advice, to recreate red carpet looks, help out with our day-to-day public appearances in order to incorporate them to our lifestyles. I am going to list 5 simple ways you can also own your celebrity style;
- BOMBER JACKET
We all know bomber jackets have been trending this year as seen on Davido, Meek Mill just to name a few. But here’s the game changer – include African/tribal prints on the bomber jacket as seen on Cameroonian singers, Mr. Leo and Locko and you bet to stand out! These celebs pair these jackets with jeans, distressed jeans, simple pants and sometimes jogging or a pair of shorts. So guys for this season, a bumper jacket is a must-have.
2. KENTE BIKINIS
This is a current trend in most recent music videos. African and even non-African musicians now flaunt pieces of Kente bikinis in their videos. This season is characterized by beach and pool parties. So girls, if you just want to rock that video vixen beach style, please get a Kente bikini into your beach bag. It’s a game changer.
3. ANKARA
If you don’t own any Ankara outfit you should be living under a rock this 2017. It’s true that its everywhere but you can be more elegant in yours! Unbelievable Ankara designs have featured on runways abroad by international designers such as Stella McCartney who shocked most fashion analysts when her models strutted the runway in our local African prints (aka Ankara). This sent mixed views in the fashion industry but it got the attention it needed. It also shed light on our African culture and today we can wear it with grace.
4. CULTURE
Have you watched Magasco’s Bella video? Then you may have noticed the Ankara bags and all the fine hand-crafted jewelries he used to add value and originality to his video. African artists are trying to include culture in their music videos showing lovely sites of attractions and also showing the deep beautiful culture of the African people. So to say embrace culture this season and shine is an understatement.
5.JEWELRY
Hand crafted pieces and hand painted pieces are great ways to incorporate our culture in our fashion lifestyle. This could be gotten from local traders in our market or around the beach sides. We also have dashiki shoes and well embroidered overalls to add up to the swag of any outfit
