Celebrity Football Match: Buea Entertainers trash Kumba Entertainers 7-4
Buea Entertainers have been crowned the champions of the Celebrity Football competition after pulling a tie with the Kumba Entertainers 3 – 3 (7 – 4 on aggregate) at the Molyko Stadium in Buea on March 28.
Buea Entertainers’ months of consistent training definitely paid off when they lifted the trophy as winners of the #CelebrityFootballMatch Wednesday afternoon in Buea. Despite pulling off a 3 – 3 draw against the Kumba Entertainers, the Buea team were declared winners thanks to their 4 – 1 trashing over the Kumba team last week in Fiango, Kumba.
A spokesperson for the #BueaEntertainers team assured us that their victory had nothing to do with cheating, match fixing or mere luck.
“We have worked so hard to get here,” Harry Kale explained. “It has taken us weeks and weeks of training, coming together and being serious to be able to play the way we did. Our victory here has nothing to do with us being lucky or fixing a match. It was playing together as a team and taking every game seriously.”
Despite rumors of the #KumbaEntertainers hiring professional players to help them play the game, a rep for the team tells us its completely untrue.
“We have entertainers people don’t know about. That doesn’t mean they are not entertainers or are not qualified to play in our squad. We trained for days to play this return leg in Buea and we really wanted to win here but its unfortunate that the Buea guys had to carry the day. But we will be well prepared to play again another time,” Head Coach for the Kumba team explained.
It was a difficult match as onlookers repeated roared and screamed as their favourite teams missed their chances for goals on the field of play. Kumba clearly put out a great fight in Buea by pulling off a draw but it was their defeat to the buea team last week by 4 – 1 that cost them the cup.
Man of the Match went to Sara Mbolem, CEO of the fashion brand Soppo Pikin, from #teambuea.
The Celebrity Football Match finals was proudly sponsored by Sucs du Pays and London Complex.
