Issa takeover! Claw manicure the New fashion statement
Back in the early 90’s, the manicurist’s job was less stressful as it involved only a nail brush, sharpener and the commonly known nail polish, “cortex”. As time evolves through technology and millennial age, this has become a bold statement and even a tug of war on who wears the best nail look at events or other social platforms.
For starters, in 1954, Fred Slack, a dentist, broke his fingernail at work, and created an artificial nail as a realistic-looking temporary replacement. The ingredients included beeswax, egg whites, gelatin, and vegetable dyes.
I remember growing up and the only thing that I could think about nails were the beauty of the “pinky little” finger nails. In that era, it was even fancier to see guys keep their pinky nails long just because women were drawn to it. (Make man no ask me how a do know, lol . F.Y.I my granny was a inquisitive one and was full of life, she caught me keeping long pinky nails).
So let me share this little story, my buddy Richard was driving me from work one day and in the climax of an old soul hit ‘Strings of Love’ by Georges Benson ft Richard Bona, he yelled “Oh some girl map ma back with this song”. Bursting out in laughter, I joined him not fully understanding what he meant. Dialing back to what granny used to say back then about claw nails, I began to understand that it was a tool in the sexual arena.
Looking at our society today, claw manicure has become a statement of personality as well as fashion and even goes a long way to ruining relationships. This friend of mine Paul in the midst of our bro chats, silently exclaimed how his woman keeps him on his toes just because she wants a specific type of manicure only because she doesn’t want to feel left out amidst her girl circle.
After much deliberation, I hit a strong wall not knowing how to conclude on this escapade into the women’s world and men’s dilemma on the how and why this Claw manicure trend is becoming bodacious among the female gender, both old and young.
So, how about it gentlemen , ladies let me get your thoughts on this story that dates back centuries.
