Fashion Statement! Jenifer Lexis sides Colin Kaepernick with striking Nike sweatshirt for Emmys 2018
When you are as old in the game as Jenifer Lewis, then you can never be afraid of taking fashion risks and making bold fashion statements like wearing a very casual NIKE sporty outfit to the Emmy Awards.
The 61-year-old ‘Black-ish’ actress strolled on the Emmy 2018 red carpet in what will go down in fashion history as the most casual look to an award show.
Lewis told press men her choice to go with a strikingly bold Nike sweatshirt to the glamorous Emmys was to show her support to and applaud sports brand, Nike for standing with former NFL star, Colin Kaepernick in his fight against racial injustice and police brutality.

If you don’t know, Colin Kaepernick is a former US quarterback for the San Francisco 49ers who became a world wide name when he refused to stand, but bend a knee for the national anthem at NFL games in protest over the country’s systemic racism against black people by the police. He recently became the new face of Nike.
Nike’s controversial decision to name Kaepernick as the new face of their ‘Just Do It’ brand campaign sparked a backlash with some conservatives who posted photos of themselves burning their own Nike merchandise in protest.
Country star John Rich and controversial actor James Woods spoke out against Nike after the announcement, with Woods calling it ‘brand suicide.’ But unfortunately for them and others, Colin’s ad sent Nike’s stock prices to an all-time high, reaching $83.90 same day. Nike’s online sales also increased by 31% two days after the ad was released and made double the revenue in the September 2 -4 period than it did in 2017.
Well, back to Lewis’ statement Emmys look, the actress paired the red and black sweater, with a sparkling diamante tick, with black leggings and black and white sneakers.
What a statement!
