Samuel Eto’o retires from international football
Cameroonian international striker, Samuel Eto’o has retired from international football at the age of 38.
The world famous football player made the announcement on his Instagram on September 7 2019, with a picture of himself alongside the words: “The end. Towards a new challenge. Thank you all, big love.”

The four-time African Player of the Year throws in the towel after a trophy-laden career spanning 22 years playing for 13 different football clubs in 6 different countries, starting with a short term at Real Madrid before been snatched by Mallorca from 2000- 2004 then to FC Barcelona in 2004 – 2009 where he won 2 UEFA Champions League titles and several La Liga titles.
He later moved to Inter Milan where him and Jose Mourinho’s side took home another UEFA Champions League title. From Italy, Eto’o left for Russia where he became the world’s highest paid player under his then club, Anzhi Makhachkala. The Cameroonian made his entrance into the English Premier League under Chelsea FC for only a year before moving to Everton in 2014.
From 2015 to 2019, the famous striker played at Sampdoria, Antalyaspor, Konyaspor and Qatar SC.

The ex-Barcelona and Inter Milan striker is widely known for his exceptional football skills, devotion to spreading love across all races and his humanitarian duties as a UN Goodwill Ambassador in his country.
The very popular sportsman is most decorated football African player of all time and his country’s all time top scorer with 56 goals. He also hold the spot for the highest goalscorer at the African Cup of Nations with 18 goals.
Eto’o enjoyed an excellent career at the top level of the game, winning numerous trophies with Barcelona and also representing Cameroon at four World Cups.
