Dencia blends tradition and technology for Billboards Music Awards 2017 look
E! Entertainment has mistaken her for Nicki Minaj before but at the Billboard Music Awards 2017 in Los Angeles last night, when Cameroonian pop star and entrepreneur Dencia stepped on the red carpet she came in as herself!
Dencia showed up to the red carpet in a spectacular appearance rocking an eye-popping yellow and black couture jumpsuit – probably designed by herself.
It’s true the boss lady loves her jumpsuits but her latest piece came in flames, literally. Clearly, the pop star was staying close to her African traditional root by tying a headscarf popularly known as “gele” in the Yoruba land of Nigeria but hers had a touch of technology.
Rocking a “gele” on a jumpsuit isn’t so new to the fashion world but Dencia made sure she stood out. Her look was entirely digital. She looked like a pretty robot from space!
“Damone (perhaps from Glamour magazine) said I look like a digital village woman a.k.a wearing Gele but technologically forward,” she wrote beneath a picture of her outfit on Instagram, May 22.
Explaining her Billboard Music Awards look, the “Queen of Matamba” as she’s called says,
“It’s not a beauty contest or a beauty pageant. As an artist, I just wanna have fun and play dress up.”
Dencia’s award show look comes only a day after Beyonce threw an overwhelming “Ankara” theme “Push Party” baby shower.
