Mayor of Buea, Ekema Patrick allegedly shoots a civilian to death
The Lord Mayor to the Buea Council, Ekema Patrick has been accused of shooting a civilian to death during a peaceful demonstration in Buea on September 22.
According to reports, Mayor Ekema Patrick, who reportedly has a licensed gun was forced to use his weapon on a group of boys who allegedly attacked his residence and cars, Friday morning during the protest.
“Those kids were shooting stones at Ekema‘s house. They were destroying his house,” a source tells us. “The army actually came and started the shooting,” the source added.
It’s unclear if the alleged stone attack on the mayor’s home actually torched him or anyone who was inside the building at the time but an eye witness tells us, “the bullet that torched the man is from the mayor’s gun.”
However, according to bontehsblog.com, “it is said that the man who was eventually shot dead was only a victim of circumstance given that he wasn’t part of the protesters.”
Another source explains to us that the unidentified victim is only “a farmer” who was perhaps at the wrong place at the wrong time.
Reports say the Mayor is currently under police custody at the Molyko Police Station for security reason only.
Dcoders, do you think it was right for the Lord Mayor to shoot at the protesters stoning his building or should he have allowed the armed forces to handle the situation?
