5 reasons we love Askia
Askia is one of Cameroon’s leading female musicians and she’s signed to the famous Alpha Better Records music label alongside Salatiel, Blaise B and Mr. Leo. Today (June 6), the rapper adds another year but we are looking at the five reasons we truly love her!
1) Askia is fearless
She’s got the boldness of a hip hop artist. She goes for anything she wants and gets it. Her lyrics and her delivery are as brave as her persona. A character that can only survive in a world dominated by the men folk.
2) Askia is a survivor
After separating from her former record label in 2015, the future of the rapper seemed blur. She felt trapped in a world she wanted to so badly get out. She wanted more to her music and a better structure to her status. She survived the scandals about her lifestyle, relationship choices and rap delivery only to be later recognized and signed as the First Lady to one of the country’s leading music record labels – Alpha Better Records. She’s now a happy soul, ready to dominate the world.
3) Askia has a split personality
Askia usually tells us she’s one of the most misunderstood music acts in Cameroon and she’s not lying. Even though she may come across as a forward, very brave and determined young woman, Askia also has a kind and caring heart. She thinks of others before herself and stays humble and loyal to her friends. On stage, she’s the fierce rap goddess but within the confines of her close circle, she’s close to an angel. She’s unpredictable.
4) Askia is real
The rapper stays true to herself no matter what and where. To her, life is short and simple; do not waste time fighting over things you cannot change. Instead, enjoy the things you have and explore other options of happiness. Askia believes in earning big things for your hard work and encourages her fans to believe in themselves in order to survive life as a whole.
5) Askia respects women
The rapper’s latest hit song, “Ma Valeur” says it all. Women should be valued. Women should value themselves. Women should be respected because they run the world. Her message to every woman is you’re a powerful tool for change in your communities, in Cameroon and the world at large. “Women need to stop depending on men for their survival, happiness or love,” she tells us. “Believe in what you are capable of and work hard, God will bless you in more ways than you can imagine,” she adds
These are the reasons we love Askia. Happy Birthday to Cameroon’s baddest female MC!!!!
