Richard Bona throws away his 2009 Canal D’or Awards

Richard Bona won a Canal D’Or Award in 2009 for ‘Best World Music Artist’ and was sent his trophy while residing in the USA. But it seems he’d stored the trophy in an old box since then and only rediscovered it eleven years later, in 2020.

The singer went on to devalue the trophy calling it cheap. “Welcome to a country where we have wood and gold but  the trophies are in Karabot”.

The Canal D’Or Awards was created back in 2004 and quickly became the most prestigious entertainment award ceremony in Cameroon which rewards and celebrates entertainers who contribute to the growth of social culture in the country. It is hosted by a television network, Canal 2 International.

In another post, he explained that, “Before dreads, I was always shaved. Nothing new. The only difference is that I have all my white hair. Love it.”
