Samuel Eto’o slammed for building pavilion in French-speaking Cameroon

Samuel Eto’o has inaugurated a 700 million Francs CFA pavilion at the Laquintini hospital in Douala but the star is receiving some serious backlash for erecting the building in the French-speaking part of Cameroon while staying silent over the Anglophone Problem.

The football legend  who showed up in a navy blue suit and sky blue tie for the inauguration of his self named Pavillon Samuel Eto’o Fils on May 9, says the project has been a long dream come true. He also assured the people that the building was not meant for the rich and mighty neither was it meant for Francophones alone.

However, it seemed it was a little too late because few minutes after pictures of the inaguration were released online, some Anglophone Cameroonians began slamming the football legend for neglecting the English-speaking parts of Cameroon and building a health facility in the French region.

One Facebook user wrote: “Good job ,but it’s has nothing to do with most of my people cuz they can’t even afford. Applicable ,see stupid ministers no shame!”

Another went on to say,  “Has Samuel Etoo ever done some thing in anglophone Cameroon. If not of Douala or Yaoundé.This gesture is for his francophones compatriot. Let him do some gesture as well in Buea or Bemenda”

Another added, “Samuel Eto’o is erecting a pavilion in a hospital while others are building hospitals like Drogba?”

Then another: “When we will have our independence, our national team will have great players too who will rise to that level and develop our country.”

Another said, “Meanwhile this guy does not know we exist moreover anglophone.”

Another wrote: ” Do u think Cameroon is only for the francophones? We love u as our brother and we supported u every where u just to show our Love for but u not thinking about the Anglophones.”

Hwoever, others felts he has done a good job and should be applauded for. What do you think?

  1. JOO says

People will be quick to jump into making comments on how a STAR/Celebrity should tackle political issues which he knows nothing about. We don’t even understand what he is going through or has planned to do but bashing the dude who is more than trying is way out of line. Common; he’s no god. And i don’t think he’s the only one that can speak out.
