5 things we learned from Stanley Enow’s interview with CNN African Voices

Stanley Enow has become the first Cameroonian urban musician to be interviewed on CNN’s African Voices.

The very famous hip hop star had so much to say about his love for music, his icons and what he believes is the way forward for the African youth. But in those words laid some little tiny secrets about the rapper’s life – things you didn’t know about him and perhaps things you can now learn from him.

  1. Do you know it’s been slightly above a decade since Stanley Enow began his music career? We bet you had no idea he’s been in this game for this long. The rapper revealed to CNN African Voices that he started doing music 1o years ago and despite the fact that he got his big break in July 2013 with his hit song “Hein Pere”, he had been hustling for far too long.
  2. Do you know Stanley Enow used to be a dancer? Again, we don’t think you knew that part of him. The rapper admits to CNN that he used to dance in the early part of his career and loved the break dance (just like Michael!) In fact, he says there were 3 stars he so badly wanted to dance like them: Genuwine, Usher and MJ! “Back at school, if you couldn’t do the break dance, girls will be like… naaahhhh”, he told CNN.
  3. Do you know which famous rap artists inspired Stanley Enow to do rap music? Well, the King Kong admits to CNN that he drew so much inspiration from legends like Tupac, Mos Def, MOD and JaRule. “Rap music is about the lyrics, poetry and so on. It was really cool to make something out of it.”
  4. Do you know Stanley Enow finally decided to do rap music because of he just wanted to share his thoughts? The rapper says making rap music means so much to him because its his only way to express himself. “The best way was to do rap!”
  5. Do you know what Stanley Enow hopes to become someday? A Legend! “I want to be a legend and for me, being a legend means you have to honor the legends. You can’t be a legend without honoring the legends,” he tells CNN. Maybe that’s why the MAMAs 2014 winner couldn’t choose between Jay Z and B.I.G. They are all legends!
