Cameroon Fashion Awards clears the air on Amah Bertrand’s nomination miss
The Cameroon Fashion Awards (CFA) is clearing the air on why fashion designer Amah Bertrand was left out of the list of nomination for this year’s debut event.
Head of the organizing team, Alfred Fresdah Nemfor says the reason why Amah Fashion House (AFH) founder missed out on the nod list has nothing to do with him being a hard working businessman.
We earlier reported that Amah was snubbed by the CFA 2017 despite taking home the “Young Designer of the Year” at FIAFA 2017. In fact, in the categories for “Best Young Designers” and “Best Male Fashion Designer,” Bertrand was no where to be found.
An inside source told us AFH couldn’t get a nomination because he’s been accused of fraud and not original.
“He [Amah Bertrand] couldn’t be included in the list of nominations for CFA 2017 because there are rumors flying around that he’s a fraudster. There is word that he’s not the authentic designer he claims to be and these type of stories are truly worrisome to the award’s brand,” the source tells us anonymously.
Well, Fredash is now saying the above allegations has nothing to do why Amah was excluded from the nomination list. He took to his Facebook wall, November 23 to write:
“I want to make something clear please. A couple of weeks ago, I made a post on Facebook saying that some people call themselves Fashion designers when they are actually not in real sense. Recently, some people have been reacting to that post saying it was directed to Amah Bertrand because he was not short listed as a Nominee for the Cameroon Fashion Award.
Please let me make this very clear, Amah Betrand is a very hard working young designer and I personally have worked with him on several platforms. We support same hustle. I want to make it clear that, that post was not for him and not for anybody but a general statement. Lastly, the nominees for the CFA , were nominated by the public and he wasn’t. That does not in any sense say that he is not a brilliant and hardworking designer.”
Fredash‘s post came only hours after Bertrand reacted to his exclusion from the CFA nod list with a Facebook post of his own, Wednesday, November 22 claiming “We don’t need awards to be recognized or accepted,” alongside a threat.
“I will expose a lot Fredash if I read one more disturbing story. Get to work and be professional. Stop acting too perfect when we are all trying to outgrow our mistakes to be the best at our various careers.”
