Francis Ngannou wins UFC World Heavyweight Championship
Congratulations are in order for Cameroonian born Francis Ngannou who has been crowned the UFC’s World Heavyweight Champion. He is now the third African to be crown with this title.
Ngannou aka The Predator took the crown, Saturday night, March 27, after a short but brilliant fight against former Heavyweight champion, Stipe Miocic at the UFC Apex.
The Cameroonian martial artist knocked out Stipe after 52 seconds of the second round. It only took Ngannou a left hand, right hand and direct punch to finally drop the former champion to ground, to which he never woke up again. According to the UFC, Miocic was transported to the hospital for an immediate precautionary CT scan of his head.
“The game plan was to be relaxed, not to rush at all. Calm down. Mt team knows that that’s the moment i have the best of myself. When I’m relaxed and not rushing,”

Coming into the Saturday’s game, Ngannou was at No. 2 on the ESPN’s heavyweight rankings with Miocic on top. Many people, including the UFC President, Dana White, considered Miocic as the best heavyweight fighter in MMA history.
“He is the greatest heavyweight of all time,” Ngannou said to ESPN. “It makes sense for me to fight him if needed.”
According to reports, Francis Ngannou is perhaps the most dangerous knockout artist in UFC history. He has won five in a row, all by 1st round KO/TKO. He has an astonishing record – he had stopped his opponents in 72 seconds or less and has eight first-round finishes in 10 UFC wins coming into the Saturday game.
Following his win, Ngannou has received congratulatory messages from his native country, Cameroon and so many Hollywood and sports stars including, Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson and NBA superstar, Joel Embiid.
