Besides being the handsome great chef at the popular fast food joint, Marayz in Buea, Chef Ali Balla has other stuff going on. Here are five other things about him you hardly even knew about.
- Ali wasn’t born with the golden spoon. In fact he was born and raised in Bonaberi, a suburb in the Buea Town vicinity in Buea noted for the worse crimes like a guy stabbing a friend for sleeping with his girlfriend or a group of boys murdering a bartender who demands for his money and may more. But Ali says, “That’s where I grew up and it has made me even stronger.”
- Chef Ali loves music, so much so that he is also a musician. Besides cooking, the celebrity chef does music on the sideline. He released his first single back in 2014 and has gone on to release two music videos and a bunch of songs still under wraps. He even has a record label in Canada ready to sign him!
- Besides being the great cook who would give you the best of local and international cuisines, Ali loves to eat the simple food. According to him, his most favorite food on earth is what he calls “Njanga Rice”. A very simple jollof rice made up with rice, crayfish, maggi, pepper and salt.
- As much as he comes through as a very playful, cheerful person who can possibly accommodate all kinds of people, Chef is a workaholic. “I love my job and it always comes first because besides me loving what I do, that’s what pays the bills,” he says.
- Chef Ali is single but we are not so sure if he’s ready to mingle with someone new. This is because he still has a huge crush on his ex. A girl he broke up with last year who resides in Douala. We wonder when and if she’ll come back already!
