More so, many stars have also strongly criticized the use of the armed force in the recent social unrest in Buea where University students have been gruesomely brutalized by the police for taking to the campus to call for infrastructural changes in school.

An eye witness tells us soldiers even “went into hostels dragging students out of their homes and beating them in public”. Another claims innocent young people were picked up and thrown into prison for no good reason… just because they were found on the road side at night.

Manager for Ace Bistro Bar and Restaurant in Buea, Elvis Che Chumbaw popularly known as Elf shares with us:

“I, along with five others were abducted on Monday night in Buea by a troop of Gendarmes. We were thrown in their truck and brutally beaten, slapped, smacked and kicked for about five hours by some 20-26year old female Gendarmes. They threatened to kill and bury us, insulted us for being Anglophones and I was even extorted of 80,000 FCFA.”
