Whether in a corporate suit or a skin tight red carpet gown, DcodedTV approves of the ‘Calee’ hit maker’s recent fun and flirty fashion choices.
From bursting onto the music scene in 2013, fresh off the church choir in the most conservative looks ever – big Tshirt and jeans, loose ill fitted gowns and hideous colorful hairstyles – to the super hot black playsuit she wore to an event in Douala, Daphne‘s style vibe has changed throughout recent times as she’s become a music superstar to reckon with in Africa (especially Central Africa).
The once ‘Rastafari’ girl now looks morphed and she keeps up her love for edgy cuts and bold colors but in a more self-thought manner.
Through all these years, this Cameroonian singer has stunned us not only with her arresting beauty but also with her head-turning fashion choices. From award shows in Cameroon to international music festivals to her massive music tours, Daphne has proven time and again that she’s a major style force to watch!
“Daphne makes stuff look good,” explains Pearl Louma, Daphne’s manager and stylist. “She would light up an ordinary and make it extraordinary,” she adds.
Daphne‘s style evolution has however seen worst days. Just as she struggled with finding that unique sound for her voice to be heard, the singer also tested too many looks trying to find what exactly matches her music personality. In January 2017, the singer even went on record announcing on Instagram that fans should expect more corporate looks [churchy suits] from her by 2018. An information which didn’t sit well with so many… not even herself!
By April 2018, Daphne was slammed on social media by fans for wearing a revealing jumpsuit while performing at a concert in Cote D’Ivoire. Some described her look as “madness”. Others called it a desperate call for attention. Although here at Dcoded TV found nothing wrong with it, the Facebook-sphere wasn’t so forgiving.
For the rest of 2018, Daphne went from a young woman finding her style to a confident woman in entertainment accepting her body curves and comfortably wearing what appeals to that body.
“I think now she has a clearer vision of what puts her body in value and she is happy exploring,” Pearl shares with us.
Daphne now stands tall as a certified style icon in Cameroon showbiz and continues to slay on and off stage as she represents not only her country, Cameroon but the pop culture to the rest of the world. Keep it up. We will be watching.
A massive shoutout to her stylist, management and label, Steven’s Music for allowing her explore into the fashion jungle.
