Miss Cameroon 2016 stripped of her title

Miss Cameroon 2016, Julie Frankline Cheugueu has been stripped of her title slightly above a year since she won the prestigious crown.

According to Bareta News, Julie Cheugue was dethroned for “calling out the government” to ensure peace in West Cameroon and only learned of her dethronement on social media.

President of the pageant, Solange Ingrid Amougou claims it was a unanimous decision by the organizers since Miss Cameroon went political.

Cheugueu previously turned down her chance to compete at the Miss World pageant 2016 on claims she demanded for her complete fee from winning the Miss Cameroon pageant.

A close source tells us, “they wanted her to pay 1.5million francs as registration fee for Miss World. She said nope. They said Ministry of Arts and Culture could help. So Comica and MinCUL ping ponged her over and over. Then they claimed she applied for a US visa without their knowledge. She said, ‘abi, na prison i dey?’…. Then they said she’s running her mouth on politics in breach of the code of conduct.

The source explains that, “She revealed that they force contestants to sign their so called code on the eve of the final event, when no one would dare jeopardise all the months of effort they had already put in walking half naked. On the politics, she said a beauty queen is more than flesh, that there are more beautiful Cameroonians out there, that what makes a Queen stand out is her ability to marry her appearance to brains and touch consciences. She’s a tough act to beat. COMICA had to stoop really low. She deserves something better than their badly crafted scam.”

Julie Cheugueu has refused to accept the sanctions by COMICA saying she was elected by Cameroonians and not a committee.

“I am not in a political party. I am simply doing what a Miss is supposed to do. Concerning the Northwest and the Southwest: We are a united country and peace is everything. That is my only advice,” Cheugueu told Bareta.

She still has “Miss Cameroon 2016” in her profile on Instagram.
