The Limbe Arts and Cultural Festival 2017 (FESCTAC) kicks off on April 8 under the supervision of the Minister of Arts and Culture. But here are five things you need to know about the much anticipated multicultural fiesta.

• The Limbe Arts and Cultural Festival enters its fourth edition this year after three previous “not-so-successful” editions. According to the organizers of this year’s event, the Limbe Urban Council and the Minsitry of Arts and Culture as well as the Ministry of Tourism, “This year will make a difference because we have gone over and beyond to provide better and more stores for artists and good entertainment from our finest stars. “We also introduced activities that were absent in the other three editions,” a rep of the Limbe 1 City Council tells us.

• This year’s FESTAC doesn’t just involve Cameroon culture. The organizers brought in other countries such as Togo, Nigeria, Ghana and the Republic of Benin to take part in the rich cultural display.
• The FESTAC is an event which is always held in the beautiful “City of Friendship” called Limbe (former Victoria). Organizers claim Limbe has everything strangers want to see including lovely beaches, a zoo and botanical garden, great hotels, fresh food and fruits, less traffic, security, cleanliness and hospitality.

• FESTAC is all about celebrating the rich cultural heritage of Cameroon. Thanks to the country’s bilingualism and multiculturalism, a festival was eminent. A hub where diverse cultures could mingle for the growth and development of art.
• Unfortunately, the festival’s opening day failed to hit big online due to the lack of internet in the South West Province, where the event is taking place. “It’s sad that we can’t tell our friends around the country and the world what’s happening in Limbe because the Government has cut off our internet. However, we hope others could see how great our cultures are,” a participant confessed to us.
