President Tchop Tchop orders Nernos to apologize for slamming Makossa music

Popular On Air Personality, President Tchop Tchop of Canal2 Television has ordered young rapper Nernos to tender in an apology for declaring Makossa music dead.

The famous “Jambo” TV Show co-host used his platform on Sunday, July 16 to address Nernos’ phrase in Ngoma‘s latest song, “Mangosi” also featuring Kikoh. He said its was disrespectful for a young artist to make a mockery out of a music genre which has existed for decades and made Cameroon internationally recognized.

He then went on to accuse Nernos of lacking inspiration in music before advising the young star to shut his mouth should he lack the right words to deliver on a song.

“My little Nernos when you are invited to a song and inspiration is lacking, it is better to close it than say bullshit. You better hurry and apologize,” Tchop Tchop in the latest edition of his Jambo show, Sunday afternoon.

In the highly street oriented song, the “Je suis pas moi Bobo” crooner is heard saying and repeating that, Makossa is dead, and “na we be ototon for di elobi”. Meaning they’ve been in the game for too long to become rulers of the music industry in Cameroon.

Nernos slams Makossa music in Ngoma’s “Mangosi”

Nernos lines were coming after Ngoma declares that “Mangosi” isn’t Makossa but he expects fans to listen and feel it just like Makossa music.

It’s true that Makossa music isn’t what it used to be back in the day in terms of popularity in Africa and the world over. Makossa artists – both young and veterans – are finding it hard to meet up with today’s fast pace in technology especially when it comes to internet downloads and social media presence. But does this justify its alleged death?

Do you agree with President Tchop Tchop that Nernos apologizes for his statement in “Mangosi” or was Nernos simply just airing his mind like any other true Hip Hop star?
